Welcome to the Wetzel County 911 Operations Center Web Site. Wetzel County 911 consists of the Director Steve Yoho, an Administrative Assistant Norma Ritz, six full time dispatcher and 1 part time dispatchers. Our Goal is to inform you of our services and in turn, make it less stressful when you contact us during an emergency.
The Wetzel County 911 Center is the primary contact for all emergencies that occur in Wetzel County regardless of its type; law enforcement, fire, medical, natural disaster or a hazardous material incident. We are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
We are responsible for dispatching and maintaining communication with the following agencies:
Ten Fire Departments
*Fire Department with ambulance
Seven Law Enforcement Agencies we can dispatch
The Wetzel County Animal Control officer is also dispatched through 911.
All of our dispatchers are both APCO (Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials) certified as Public Safety Tele-communicators and EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatchers) as well as having passed FBI background checks. In addition all dispatchers are trained in CPR, First Aid, and NIMS ( National Incident Management System) as well as many other required certifications.
The dispatch center consists of three work stations which are equipped with CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) work stations, which includes mapping of Wetzel County and surrounding areas. The mapping system utilized by the 911 center allows the CAD to show the dispatcher the location of the caller at the time of the call, even when placed from a cell phone. The radio and phone system is also computer operated keeping a recorded log of all phone calls and radio traffic. All audio communications are recorded for use as evidence and quality control. The radio system is also equipped with a backup system to insure communication is uninterrupted in the event of an issue with the main radio system. The radio system works using radio towers located at 3 points around Wetzel Country, allowing 911 to have the best possible comunication with emergency responders throughout the country.
